Reflections on Society: High school (redux)

While being in high school I always remember once event that that occurred on a regular basis, someone that recently graduated would come back to visit a teacher. This happend rather frequently. The recent grad would always make it a point to come back, disrupt class, and chit chat with the teacher. the teachers of my high school also enabled this behavior. They would pause class competely, as if their estranged silbing had finally back come into their life. The teacher would then assign some random homework then chat with their former student for a good 30+ minutes. I felt robbed of my already free education every-time one of these jackoffs walked into the room and sadly it was a regular occurrence.

I have to admit that it’s been like 15 years since I have graduated high school. Once I received my diploma and never went back to visit teacher (much less the school). My life has been better because of that. I sadly cannot say the same for many others.

I will be honest, my view on people who can't let go of high school has not improved over the years.  As time goes on I find myself resenting these people more and more.   It's like all the negative aspects of nostalgia are manifest into one living group of people, the people who can't let go of high school.

I feel like a large majority of these people are in the same category as people who can't grow up period. I'm not talking Peter Pan Never-land type of shit, I'm talking maturity & people's abilities to cope with life (which I guess can be interrupted as maturity). But where I live currently (the midwest) there are a large group of people who never grew up. Quick example: The guy who still thinks it's cool to have sub-wuffers in their car and crank up the volume to 11 so that everyone within a 5 town radius can hear them blast 50 cent. It's the whole "I wanna be seen and fucking heard" mentality with a hint of "I don't give a fuck but please notice me being a douchebag." Very teenage-sc, but not when you're doing it in your 20's or worse, 30s. - MCS1
